Shiny Rocks V.5

Entertainment

I've watched more TV than I usually do.  I found a few shows I could recommend.
Life has a Zen feel to it.
Touch I can't explain, you just have to watch this.  I give it five stars.
Mr. Nobody is an interesting look at time and multiverses.  I don't believe in time but I do believe in multiverses.

Websites

Lonely Blogs is a site where you can promote your blog if you're into that.  From their site: "We made this website in order to support bloggers from all over the world and the blogger community. It works by reading RSS or Atom feeds that users provide and then links to the newest posts on user's blogs."

StoreDot works with biological self-assembling, non-toxic, organic-based materials. The website is definitely worth a visit.

Goodpeoplebrewing.com is located in Birmingham, Alabama. That is about an hour from where I stay.  BeerAdvocate, a leading voice in the beer community, says the four highest-rated beers in the South are Good People Brewing beers.

Want the best price when traveling? Tingo.com says, "If you book a Price Drop room and the rate drops, we'll refund the difference to your credit card, automatically."

Song Freedom is a site where you can license 'good' music for your videos (if you need it).

Things I Thought

Sometimes I want to tell people to "Walk away while you can."

You have the power to imagine and create a better world.

We imprison ourselves.

Are we weak enough and strong enough to love and be loved?

There are infinite ways to communicate yet many still struggle to communicate basic things:  I want.  I need.  I love.

The Shiny Song

The tiger and the monkey and the elephant all asked  for you

NOLA

We are heading to New Orleans in May and I maybe going again in June or July.  It's hard to tell about the second trip.  My life is in flux. Anyway, I thought I'd post a few New Orleans pictures to get us in the mood.

Street photography is my favorite and New Orleans is a great place to practice.

Background
People who can see me in non-cyber space know I love shiny rocks.  I pick them up.  I carry them with me. I randomly give them away. I accept them as gifts. They sit on windowsills and tables.
This is the fourth in a series of biweekly features about sharing the gems and jewels I find along the way  (quotes, songs, thoughts, notes, websites, photos i take, photos I see).   I hope you like the shiny cyber rocks. I may update Shiny Rocks all during the day as I come across new shiny things.
If you have some shiny rocks you'd like to share leave them in the comments.   Let me know what you think.
May truth, love, and light embrace you and emanate from you.

Adventure Ahead Update

Posted on 3:00 AM by jr cline | 0 comments

It's not long now.  NOLA bound in 3 days! (updates in what ever color this is)
I'm so excited.  I've been getting ready for several days.  I still have a lot to do but I have done a lot too.
Last laundry loads done!  Clothes packed!
Extra bird food and a bird toy procured!
Toothpaste and deodorant purchased and packed!
Back up netbook and delete things to free up space
Meds packed!

Left to do:
Leave form
Finish packing
Mow the entire yard - This is 2/3rds done
Hook up light timers
Charge all devices and batteries
Take out trash and was dishes right before leaving
Pack cameras, related gear,  and electronics
Train ticket.....done!
Reservation at 905 Royal.....done!

I'll be gone a week.  Two days travel time and the rest playing and some impromptu street photography.  w00t! w00t!

I don't have any firm things planned.  Here is the really short list of possibilities:
August in New Orleans will be hot and humid.  The Audubon Aquarium of the Americas  will be a nice and cool inside something to do.

Dirty Linen Night on Royal Street
This will be easy to do.  The place I am staying is located right where this festival is being held.  I can just go outside and be at the festival.  lol Easy Peasy.

Swamp Tour
There are several options for this tour.
Grayline Tours This tour begins within walking distance of the hotel.  That is a plus.  On the downside, this hour and a half tour isn't going to get too far out into a swamp.  It may wind up being a tour of the drainage canals.
Jean Lafitte Swamp Tour This tour boat has a restroom on board.
Cajun Critters Swamp Tour
I have to make sure they can accommodate Jesse which means they probably need a restroom on the boat.  The tour boats are covered so I won't be riding in the hot August sun.  The air boat tours I checked out didn't take children under five.

COOLinary New Orleans is another happy coincidence.
Oh wait.  There are no coincidences.

See what else I’m doing.

February's Evil Plan

Posted on 11:34 AM by jr cline | 0 comments

NOLA

The end of February and the first few days of March I'll taking a seven day photography excursion to New Orleans.   Christy, Jeremy, Jesse and I will be riding the Crescent there and back.
While we are there we will be staying at the Nine O Five Royal Hotel.

This is where we always stay when we go to New Orleans.  Near Bourbon Street and in the French Quarter, this historic hotel is awesome and so are the owners.

Traveling with a three year old on the train will be an exciting adventure in and of itself.  Then there is the time in New Orleans with a toddler.  WOW!  What a wonderful opportunity to see the world anew through his eyes.  This will definitely be an inspirational trip to remember.

All evil plans need a name and Christy dubbed this one Toddler Train.  I think it is perfect!

905 Royal Hotel

Posted on 4:35 AM by jr cline | 0 comments

Here are a few pictures of my room at the 905 Royal Hotel.

These two are in the sitting room.

This is the bedroom.  Note the pocket doors that can be closed to separate the two rooms. The bed was particularly comfy.  On the right of the picture you can barely see the doorway leading to a small kitchen (sink, stove, and fridge).  The doorway to the left of the dresser goes to the bathroom.
I would stay here again. It is a nice room and I enjoyed staying there while visiting New Orleans.
