This is kind of scary

Master of Divinity
Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, California
  • Awarded scholarship and fellowship to attend one of the world’s academically renowned Evangelical seminaries
  • Planned and led mission trips to Central America, managing travel and other logistics for participants from Baltimore, Montgomery and Los Angeles
  • Raised $1M for seminary foundation as student
And he claims he is suspicious of the money?

• Troubled that Alabama judicial elections have been the most expensive in the entire nation, more money is spent than in California, Texas or Illinois.
• The suspicious spending of millions upon millions of dollars on Supreme Court races has created a shameful perception that justice is for sale in Alabama.
• A “dangerous trend” of judicial activism has developed that places profits over people, violating our family Judeo-Christian values.
• Recent decisions placed the interests of Exxon and drug companies over and above the interest of the citizens of Alabama.

How can you raise $1 million and not be interested in, involved in, and connected with big money?

hmmmm...Tom Edwards for Alabama Supreme Court Justice.  I'm not sure I want an Evangelical, right-wing Christian on the Supreme Court.  They have already decided too many things before they even hear a case.   I'd prefer someone a little more open minded.

The money thing bothers me too.

The Times They are a Changing

Thegirlwiththemacbookpro got me thinking along these lines this morning.

It is amazing how much things change in three years.
Mostly I'm listing the big things that changed.

One year ago:

My father was sick and my mother was pretty healthy for someone her age.
My son was living here.  He still came home from college for the summer each year.
Venus, my Great Dane was guarding the back yard and was a good friend.
I was seriously stressed out over my father's illness.
My best friends were expecting their first child and I was helping them remodel their home.
I was a full time professor at work.

Two years ago:

Both my parent's were pretty healthy, went places, and did things (we were probably planning my brother's birthday party).
My son had just completed his first year at Georgia Tech and was home for the summer.
The old green F150 was running good.
The cockatoo is gone and an amazon is living here.

Three years ago:

My son lived here full time, it was his last full time year at home.
I had just purchased a jeep.
A cockatoo lived here.
I purchased a new television.
My just because daughter was around a lot more.

Today:

My son lives in another state.
My parents and Venus are dead.
The jeep is paid for.
I share a communal living space with my best friends and their 9 month old son.
In 4 days I'll be a part time professor/part time programmer.
I rarely see my just because daughter anymore.

I may be off some on the time frames but you get the idea and it is the best I can remember off the top of my head at 5:30 in the morning.

Nothing stays the same...:-)
