A week late, but here it is, the latest edition of Shiny Rocks.

Quotes

Peace in the brain. It is a very good thing. ~ Joanna DeVoe The KICKASS WITCH : Putting The "K" In Magick
The greenest building is the one that is already built. ~ Adaptive Reuse

 Web sites

For $5 a month E-junkie will help you sell your stuff.
Do you have expertise to sell?  Clarify will help you do that.
Web We Want is a global movement to defend, claim and change the future of the Web.  Connect, share and take action with others to build the Web we want.

Thoughts I thunk

Escape the cult of average.

Change the lens and change reality.

The magic sword of truth.
The odd thing is we all seem to have our own truth.

People have made a lot of rules.  Rules aren't bad.  They help in a lot of cases.  But life isn't about rules.  Learn and teach critical thinking and what is right in a situation becomes easier to find.

Relax, take a deep breath.  Get ready.  It's going to change.

Interesting idea

Positive Psychology  Positive psychologists seek "to find and nurture genius and talent" and "to make normal life more fulfilling", rather than merely treating mental illness. Positive psychology is primarily concerned with using the psychological theory, research and intervention techniques to understand the positive, adaptive, creative and emotionally fulfilling aspects of human behavior.

Background
People who can see me in non-cyber space know I love shiny rocks.  I pick them up.  I carry them with me. I randomly give them away. I accept them as gifts. They sit on windowsills and tables.
This is the fourth in a series of biweekly features about sharing the gems and jewels I find along the way  (quotes, songs, thoughts, notes, websites, photos I take, photos I see).   I hope you like the shiny cyber rocks. I may update Shiny Rocks all during the day as I come across new shiny things.
If you have some shiny rocks you'd like to share leave them in the comments.   Let me know what you think.

The tree was 123 inches around where it was measured.
That wasn't at the base.
At this point they are around 10 feet off the ground.

Some of the wood will be used for firewood.

Back at the Hut

We are all safely back from an exciting week in New Orleans.

Waiting on the train

It was awesome!

I thought settling back into 'everyday' life would be a little difficult (it usually is).

The sun peeks through the clouds over Lake Pontchartrain

But it wasn't this time.  I got up and went to work.  I was a bit behind and played catch up most the day.  The time passed quickly and it was time to leave.

 Push to open

There was a lot to do after work too.  I had a huge pile of mail at the post office.  I sorted through all that and I picked up some food so I could cook supper.   I made red beans and rice.  That seemed an appropriate after NOLA supper.  As a bonus there are leftovers for another day.

The food in the dining car was excellent as usual.

A lot happened at work while I was gone.  I'm glad I missed it.  Several people were suspended and/or fired.  It will be interesting to see how things shake out over the next few weeks.

Life is full of strange things.  When I got back I read an ecard from my ex.  She said she made a horrible mistake all those years ago, loves me, and wants me back.  I can't fix that for her.  She went out to dance and it seems she is finally having to pay the band.  I'm sorry she can't find a love to suit her.  I know that pain.  I lived with it a long time.  Finally I accepted my status and now I happily journey along alone or with my friends.  I fully expect to metamorph to the next stage of life alone somewhere on the side of the road in the back of an RV.

Friends can help each other. A true friend is someone who lets you have total freedom to be yourself - and especially to feel. Or, not feel. Whatever you happen to be feeling at the moment is fine with them. That's what real love amounts to - letting a person be what he really is. ~ Jim Morrison

A Super Saturday

Posted on 7:50 PM by jr cline | 0 comments

Today was a fun day.  It went kind of as planned but took some twists and turns along the way.

Christy, Jeremy, and Jesse came over this morning for a visit.  Jeremy was going to cut firewood from the huge tree that fell in the back woods. Christy, Jesse, and I played in the yard.  We left Jeremy with the tree and went back to Christy's house.  She got ready to go shopping.  Jeremy came home.  Christy and I went to town to pick up a few things.

Last stop on the shopping trip was the grocery store.   We didn't buy peanut butter, but I took the picture anyway.

   Sidewalk Chalk

While Christy fixed supper, I played with Jesse in his room.

The last picture I took today was of these two Angry Birds.  They look kind of crazed and dangerous in the dim light.  In reality they are fuzzy slippers.

Snowy Day

Posted on 5:31 PM by jr cline | 0 comments

I thought I'd share this short video (16 seconds) of the snow storm here.

Not a big deal if you live further north but it is a big deal here.   The grocery stores are running out of bread and milk.  Speaking of that, what is the deal with buying bread and milk when there is a snow storm?   I don't get that at all.  I buy beer, chips, dips, and other snack food. If I'm going to be snowed in I'm going to have a party.  lol

Attempted Coercion

Posted on 2:42 PM by jr cline | 0 comments

I don't think the owners of this van are people I'd like to know.

The message is loud and clear.
We aren't happy campers.

I'm sure if I talked with them they would be concerned for my eternal soul.  Their way of showing their concern isn't one that will win friends and influence people.  If it turns me away I'm sure it turns a lot of people away.
Nice paint job though.
