Thegirlwiththemacbookpro got me thinking along these lines this morning.
It is amazing how much things change in three years.
Mostly I'm listing the big things that changed.
One year ago:
My father was sick and my mother was pretty healthy for someone her age.
My son was living here. He still came home from college for the summer each year.
Venus, my Great Dane was guarding the back yard and was a good friend.
I was seriously stressed out over my father's illness.
My best friends were expecting their first child and I was helping them remodel their home.
I was a full time professor at work.
Two years ago:
Both my parent's were pretty healthy, went places, and did things (we were probably planning my brother's birthday party).
My son had just completed his first year at Georgia Tech and was home for the summer.
The old green F150 was running good.
The cockatoo is gone and an amazon is living here.
Three years ago:
My son lived here full time, it was his last full time year at home.
I had just purchased a jeep.
A cockatoo lived here.
I purchased a new television.
My just because daughter was around a lot more.
Today:
My son lives in another state.
My parents and Venus are dead.
The jeep is paid for.
I share a communal living space with my best friends and their 9 month old son.
In 4 days I'll be a part time professor/part time programmer.
I rarely see my just because daughter anymore.
I may be off some on the time frames but you get the idea and it is the best I can remember off the top of my head at 5:30 in the morning.
Nothing stays the same...:-)
