Got up and made breakfast - a biscuit and some coffee
Worked on IPEDS and completed the HR section
Extracted two sets of data to export to the new computer system
Drove to my office
Downloaded the data extracts from one system
Uploaded the extracts to the new system
Drove back to the house
Fixed red beans and rice for a late lunch
Started on the next data sets - I have a problem with one of them.  It wants city and county and I don't know which city and county.  Where the student lives?  Where the application was submitted?  Or some place I've not even thought about.   I've got to send some emails this morning and try to get this resolved.
Christy called and asked me to come play with Jesse while she cleaned up the yard, so I went over there
The dog was hit by a car
Off we go to vet's office
An hour later the dog is pronounced a 'miracle' dog with no serious injuries
We returned and I played with Jesse a couple more hours until he threw me out
I returned home and played online for a while
Went to bed and slept four hours (what is up with that? I can usually make it six)

So here I sit, dangling my legs over the edge of a new day in anticipation of the adventures ahead.

Q&A

I borrowed this from Paulo Coelho, author and Messenger of Peace.

The household I grew up in… was varied.  We moved often and home was and is where the people I love and who love me happen to be.

You wouldn’t know it but I am very good at…organizing events.

You may not know it but I’m no good at… understanding people's motives.

I wish I had never worn… that pair of pants that turned out to have a huge hole in crotch.  Four hours into the day I realized there was a draft and stopped at a store to purchase new jeans.

My favourite item of clothing… cargo shorts.

It’s not fashionable but I like… to sleep naked.

My favourite work of art... The Groper Fish by Ocean Starr.

My favourite building... Currently I'm a fan of the weeHouse.

A book that changed me… Tao The Watercourse Way by Alan Watts and Al Chung-liang Huang.  This book was influential in changing the way I view life.

Movie heaven… Movies come and go and what I like changes.  The Butterfly Effect came to mind first this time.  I like chaos theory.

My greatest regret… Currently I don't regret anyting.

My secret crush... I don't have a secret crush.  I don't have a non-secret crush either.

My real-life villain... I agree with Coelho on this one: Fundamentalists – and you can find them in every single religion and political party on this planet.

The last time I cried… Crying is easy for me.  I cried yesterday listening to the radio and will probably cry again today.

My five-year plan… I have a vague plan to move into an RV.  I'm making it up as I go though.

Sometimes…

The world needs the crazy ones far more than it needs gardeners of the status quo.

I'm weary of living in the garden of the status quo.  Change is so slow to come here.  The gardeners do a wonderful job of keeping things as they are.

Frowned upon and quickly sprayed with criticism until it withers and dies.

With a whimper

With all the dramatic possible endings to life as we know it (meteors, asteroids, pandemics, global thermonuclear mutual destruction, global warming...make up your own) here is a doom and gloom I've never thought about.

The gray goo problem

The "... danger of molecular nanotechnology is the risk that self-replicating nanorobots capable of functioning autonomously in the natural environment could quickly convert that natural environment (e.g., “biomass”) into replicas of themselves (e.g., “nanomass”) on a global basis, a scenario usually referred to as the “gray goo problem” but perhaps more properly termed “global ecophagy.”

As Drexler first warned in Engines of Creation:

“Plants” with “leaves” no more efficient than today’s solar cells could out-compete real plants, crowding the biosphere with an inedible foliage. Tough omnivorous “bacteria” could out-compete real bacteria: They could spread like blowing pollen, replicate swiftly, and reduce the biosphere to dust in a matter of days. Dangerous replicators could easily be too tough, small, and rapidly spreading to stop–at least if we make no preparation. We have trouble enough controlling viruses and fruit flies.

I guess this doesn't get as much attention because it doesn't make good TV.

lol.....

Have an awesome Sunday and watch out for the gray goo.

heads heads and more heads

A mad head
A sad head
A glad head
A depressed head
A head full of dreams
An optimistic head
A happy head
A spinning head
A stuffed up head
A spiteful head
A stressed out head
A mixed up head
A focused head
A head that hurts
An idea filled head
A hateful head
A fearful head
A pessimistic head
A loving head
A head full of faith
A hopeful head

Make up your own head.
It's better that way
Anyway

What head are you wearing today?
